I finally broke down and did some yardwork this weekend. The front was done by Friday evening and looks great. I managed to mow, trim, weed the font planter area and blow away the grass clippings. I started in the back but that didn't get done until Saturday when I borrowed the neighbors riding mower and went to town. If anyone notices the decrease in oxygen levels it is because I clear cut the miniature Amazon forest in my backyard. I need to put down some bug killer back there though... As I was riding and mowing I could see a mass exodus of bugs, flying and jumping this way and that, as they attempted to flee the mass destruction I was leaving in my wake. If I can see them that clearly, perhaps I need to do some bio-maintenance back there and decrease the surplus population.

I also did some work inside in anticipation of my MIL and Mindy's niece flying out on Wednesday. Still have a few more thinsg that I need to do before they get here, so I'll be sure to finish that up before I go to bed on Tuesday evening. There is no rest for the wicked!

Emily was a bit crabby this weekend. She wasn't her usual cheerful self at her friend's birthday party, but she has managed to say the words all parents dread - (long dramatic pause) 'Chuck E. Cheese' - and all I can say is that if you can avoid the place, do it. To call it organized chaos is a lie - it is just utter chaos in there. Kids running around like little heathens and a small percentage of parents who just don't give a rats behind what said heathens are doing the whole time they are there. It brings to mind a bumper sticker I saw recently, "What is the solution to out of control children? It's Aparent!" Personally, I couldn't agree more and because of that I can forgive the G-Dub sticker on the other side of the bumper.

So next weekend we'll be at the beach. I guess I am looking forward to the trip just so I can finally say I have seen the Atlantic Ocean. I'll be sure to write about that little trip next week. In the meantime, it is time to get back to work.

Once again I have been quite lax in my journaling, but this week has been pretty busy with the news of the promotion and the holiday weekend. But I have lots to write about, so I'll just get down to it.

Firstly, with my new promotion I have been counting days left on the phones. I promised my leader Eddie that I would still give 130% as always, to which he replied that historically people get a bit lazy when they are transition. At least my last days have been productive, and I have hit my sales goals, but I am planning on taking Friday and Sunday off so I can get re-oriented to a daytime schedule again.

Over the weekend we did yard work in from of the house. We planted two toned marigolds in the very front by the mailbox, and petunias (I think) in the front plater/retaining wall next to the house. After that I laid out fresh black mulch and everything looks VERY nice. Today I mowed and edged, and now the front of the house looks beautiful! All I have to do is work in the backyard tomorrow and my outdoor chores will be done for at least two weeks. I figure once more outside before my mother-in-law comes out to visit with Mindy's niece and everything will be perfect.

Speaking of the pending visit from the in-laws, we are more than likely going to head out to the coast for an extended weekend in August and take in one of the Aquariums in the Outer Banks/Wilmington area. Finally, after being here almost three years, I will get to see the Atlantic Ocean. I am sure I will hate it just as much as I hated the Pacific (if only because I hate getting sand all over me and carrying it back home inside all of my stuff). Still, it has been almost two years since I have seen a beach (the last time was the Gulf of Mexico in Clearwater Florida on a business trip with AT&T Wireless), so I will make the best of it and simply enjoy the time with Mindy and Emily.

My Grandmother recently had knee surgery but seems to be recovering well from what she has said. She said her heart had failed while on the operating table. While she is fine now, I was very concerned. I love my Grandmother as much as I love my wife and daughter, she has been a very important influence in my life and I would have been heartbroken if something had happened to her. Yes, I know people eventually die, but I am not ready for her to go just yet. I am certain I would miss her the most out of all her grandkids, well maybe it'll be a tie between me and my nephew Christopher, but only time can prove that and I am in no hurry to test that theory.

There is much more I could write right now, but I think I am gonna hop in the shower, especially when I think about the fact that I just finished mowing the lawn and I am eager to wash off the outdoors that I have tracked indoors with me. So with that, I hope everyone has a great day and thanks for all the positive energy that was thrown my way this past week - I do appreciate it!

*A quick note to someone who is lurking out there* I know you are still reading... That is all...

Well, the Greek Festival was yummy! Gyro, Souvlaki, and Loukamades were the order of the day. Emily loved the gyro and enjoyed the music and dancing - that little girl can groove and clap with the best of those Greeks! :)
On the flip side our AC is out of order. Looks like I have to make a call tomorrow to the builder and bitch them out.
Work is going well. I have achieved my goal for 100% pay-out for my commissions for the week and am fourteen sales away from getting 115% pay-out. The next eight hours will be interesting and I will be pitching up a storm. Perhaps if I use the Jedi Mind Trick I may be able to have an effect on the weak minded...

I am at work... Some weekend!

Seriously though, yesterday we worked on reorganizing the garage so Mindy can park the Vue in there alongside the Coupe (at least until we finally get around to selling it). We alo picked out items for donation and others for a garage sale. Halfway into the task it started raining! So everything we had put in the driveway had to be rushed back into the garage. Needless to say, project terminated.

I did manage to take a small load of stuff to Goodwill (and got my donation receipt - thank you tax deduction!).

Last night we watched Sideways on DVD. I liked it, but Mindy was on the fence. Personally I like Paul Giamatti, I think he plays sad and depressed better than most. That, and Sandra Oh is quite hot... Loved her in Under The Tuscan Sun and she is great in Grey's Anatomy. I can see why Virginia Madsen got an Oscar Nomination, but I think it must have been based on her one long speech because she really didn't have a lot to say in the film.

We still have the Bridget Jones sequel (I hope Mindy watches that one soon), and we also have a movie called Final Cut that stars Robin Williams (it must have been straight to video because I don't recall it being released in theaters). Has anyone else seen that film?

I am taking this coming Friday off, so I'll have a four day weekend. Woo Hoo!
