Good Day!
So, things are picking up here at work and today I finally get my lap top. Almost a month after I started, but better late than never I always say. It is brand spankin' new so I guess it was worth the wait - it has a DVD/CD/W/RW - so I can watch movies when I travel (I know, I get excited about the smallest stuff).

Lately I have been on a DS9 watching kick, thanks to my Tivo and double features every day of the week on Spike TV. The funny thing is I am finding myself preferring this show over ST:TNG and I think I understand why. TNG was always about adventure and exploring, whereas DS9 was about relationships and nowadays I care more about relationships than adventure. As I watch the shows from the beginning I can see how they built up the mystique of The Dominion, which of course leads to the Dominion War until the end of the show. It is such a shame that I didn't give the show as much attention back when it was first run on UPN before it was canceled!

After listening to my Charlie & The Chocolate Factory songs I know it is a MUST that I see that movie. I wonder if I can get us a sitter on Friday night...

DS9 = Star Trek Deep Space Nine
It's okay if you don't know... There is a small group of folks who do know, and right now they are probably going, "D'OH!"

And then you can go to the Mall of America (but not for the movie because their theater sucks great big donkey d**ks!)

The fascinating part about DS9 is the fact that if they tried to make that series today it'd never get made, or at least the first 3 seasons of it. All that stuff about the Bajorans and terrorism and religion? Never get made now. That's why it's the best of them all. Put the seasons in your netflix. you won't be disappointed.

but I count the end of DS9 as the end of trek. voyager and enterprise pale in comparison to the awesomeness that's DS9. what upsets me about it is that that show could've gone on forever and still be fresh, as the new novels really show. TNG could never go on as it was b/c it was picard's show and he would never be picard forever. he wanted to leave after the first season. since there was actual characterization on DS9, they could've continued the show with just Kira or Julian or
Worf or hell even Quark and it would've worked just fine.

From what you are saying the novels really carry the torch, so perhaps I need to investigate those a bit further. The on TNG novel I ever liked was Imzadi by Peter David (and the only reason I read that was I liked his run on The Incredible Hulk comics).

the first 10 DS9 relaunch books are actually in an order. you can't just read any random one you want. I'll have to find the list somewhere...
