It's starting...  The 9/11 films are on the way as we approach the five year anniversary.  Do we really need to make movies about 9/11?  Maybe it's just me, but I think Hollywood needs to donate part of the profits to the families who lost their loved ones - after all, why should movie producers and movie studios be the only people to profit off of a tragedy?

I honestly don't know how I feel about this.

On one hand I feel it shouldn't be done this way. But if they must I would HOPE that the filmmakers have the decency to defer their profit and donate them to the victims' families.

On the other, I also have come to mind films like Munich, and other films about real life tragedies and events such as WWII and Pearl Harbor, the Holocaust, and others.

But in the cases of the other films you have mention we have distance between now and the events that transpired. We have had time to heal and deal. I don't mind the documentaries because they are simply relaying what transpired in a logical manner - these films are fictional accounts of real life events.

Oh, dear God, you mean there's MORE? There are already a bajillion 9/11 documentaries out there. I feel so sorry for the family members of those lost on that day. I mean, it's bad enough to have to live through that, but then to be constantly bombarded with images of it over and over...

You watch... Coal Miner movies are coming next!

Oh, yeah, I know. And all the characters will have pseudo-Southern accents, and you'll have barefoot, pregnant, teen widows living in trailers with outhouses...

*sigh*

I will not watch any more movies or specials about that day. I lived it. That was enough. The memories will last a lifetime.
