So, to recap, 2006 was a tough year filled with lots of changes. A quick summary of what happened, what was accomplished, both good and bad includes:
- I bought some weight training equipment at the beginning of the new year - but never used it like I had planned.
- Went through a rollercoaster of a career nightmare at Amex filled with much uncertainty, stress, panic, emotion, add whatever adjective you want to describe the hell that it was. (For the record, yesterday I went back and read through my old journal entries and I swear, I felt the same anciety I experienced when I was living through it! God that was a helacious time...)
- Learned my wife was expecting our second child in the middle of said career nightmare.
- We went on vacation to SoCal and Hawaii - Emily got sick in California and we didn't get to see as many people as we wanted to. But Hawaii was pretty darn cool.
- I left said career nightmare at Amex to enjoy a long distance commute at a place that is much more enjoyable to work at. Woo Hoo!
- We lost some friends that we thought were good people, but turned out to be quite shallow.
- Mindy quit her job.
- Jensen joined the family. He's a lot of fun and has a great smile.
- I got a promotion after working less than six months at my new job - without even having to interview! How cool is that?!
- We had a wonderful holiday during Christmas and celebrated New Years with a former colleague and her spouse, who are turning into better friends than the ones we lost earlier in the year.
I am really looking for 2007 to be a much better year, and I will be trying my darndest to make sure that is the case. As with many of my other friends, I am not making resolutions... And I'll break my goals out by month as each month transpires. My goals for this month?
- Paint the former guest room and turn it into a kids room.
- Turn what will be formerly Emily's room into a home office / activity room.
- Get all my tax paperwork organized and ready to file in February.
- Cut back on my soda intake. No more than one a day, and no banking sodas if I skip a day. It's a use it or lose it situation.
- Cut back on all fast food. If it has a drive thru, than it is evil!
- Spend more time doing fun things with Emily and Jensen. Free is good, just so long as it is fun.
I think that is a great start for January.
