Is it Friday yet? No? DARN!

Our friends Kristen and bert are leaving Sunday morning from Raleigh to a tropical location where they will get married and have their honeymoon. We'll be watching their itty bitty Yorkie, Chopper, for the week they are gone. Emily ADORES Chopper, so this should be a fun week to say the least. The only challenege will be keeping Dixie from trying to play too hard with Chopper, since Dixie loves other dogs and Chopper isn't too sure about other dogs. We'll see what the dog trainer in me can accomplish in a week.

Just in case anyone doubts that my dog's ears are like radar...

Looks like Yoda, huh?

Gotta love that face!

Yesterday was a mess! I had to go to the jewelry store to pick up my wife's wedding ring (her engagement ring and wedding band came apart). I was a few blocks away from another destination where I was supposed to pick up a cat tree for the recently neutered Spike, but my wife wanted me to go to a weight watchers meeting with her. Tried as I did, I could not convince her of the logic in my going to the meeting separately. She figured the other party who was meeting me could just as easily wait an extra hour.

Wrong!

I ended up going home, and the woman I was supposed to meet called me. It would be an inconvenience for her to wait. So if I wanted a free cat tree, I had to meet her there ASAP. So I drove back out there - in the SoCal rush hour traffic - and what would have normally taken ten minutes was forty five. But I got the cat tree. The price was right.

And I made it to the meeting with about fifteen minutes to spare - and lost three pounds! Woo Hoo!

Yesterday was more than a national day of mourning and rememberence... My cat Spike got neutered. What was supposed to cost $50 ended up being $135, because upon examination the vet said one of his testicles had not descended, so they had to go looking for it. Instead of snip-snip, his procedure was a snip-slice.

On the brighter side, we also had something called 'Soft-Paws' done to him. Rather than have him declawed, which I think is painful and cruel, they put acrylic caps on the tips of his nails. This will save my furniture, and my skin, from the onslaught of his little claws. The caps last about six weeks, and it was only $18, so I think it was worth the investment. The only bad thing about them is that Spike has to learn to use his rear claws for traction instead of his front ones.

Spike - Up Close and Personal

I just hope the dog doesn't take this as a sign that it's open season on Kittens.
